What is a TikTok Avatar?
Avatars are a digital representation of you that you can create for your TikTok account. You can use your Avatar as your profile photo, in direct messages, and to react to Stories.
How to create a TikTok Avatar
You'll need to take a selfie or upload a photo of yourself to create your avatar. The image is then used to produce creative versions of yourself that can be used in the app.
Some important things to know about your TikTok Avatar:
• You can only create one avatar per day.
• You must only upload your own photos to make your avatar.
• We'll store your live selfie or photo while your avatar is being created. Once it's created, we'll delete the photo.
• Your image information is not used for any purpose other than the creation of your avatar.
• You can delete any avatars you've created at any time.
Profile
To create your avatar in your profile:
1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap Edit profile.
3. Below your profile photo, tap Edit photo or Avatar, then select Create avatar. Use the camera to take a selfie or upload an existing photo.
4. Tap the Done ✓ button. We'll generate your avatar and notify you when it's ready.
Direct messages
To create your avatar in your direct messages:
1. In the TikTok app, tap Inbox at the bottom, then select a direct message.
2. Press and hold a message to react to it. You'll have the option of reacting with an avatar.
3. Tap Create yours, then select Create Avatar sticker. Use the camera to take a selfie or upload an existing photo.
4. Tap the Done ✓ button. We'll generate your avatar and notify you when it's ready.
Stories
To create your avatar in stories:
1. View a user's story and tap Message.
2. Tap Avatar.
3. Tap Get started. Use the camera to take a selfie or upload an existing photo.
4. Tap the Done ✓ button. We'll generate your avatar and notify you when it's ready.
How to edit your TikTok Avatar
Once you've created your avatar, you can edit it in your profile.
To edit your avatar:
1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap Edit profile.
3. Below your profile photo, tap Edit photo or Avatar, then tap Edit Avatar.
4. Edit your avatar by changing the expression and background, then tap Save.
How to regenerate or delete your TikTok Avatar
To delete your avatar:
1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap Edit profile.
3. Below your profile photo, tap Edit photo or Avatar, then tap Edit Avatar.
4. Tap the More options … button at the top, then select Regenerate Avatar or Delete Avatar:
༚ To delete, tap Delete to confirm.
༚ To regenerate, tap Regenerate and follow the instructions to create another avatar.
5. Tap Delete to confirm the deletion of your avatar.
Note: The first time you create an avatar, you can regenerate it twice within the first 24 hours. After that, you can regenerate your avatar once every 24 hours.
