TikTok personalizes ads through inferences we've made about you based on topics you're interested in and your gender. We organize ad topic preferences through categories such as:
• General: List of ad topics on TikTok, including topics we've inferred you may be interested in, topics you've specified you're interested in or not interested in, and all other topics.
• Other: List of ad topics that you can limit on TikTok.
How to manage ad topics
To make the ads you see on TikTok more relevant to you, you can adjust your ad topic preferences from your settings.
From the TikTok app
1. Tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Ads.
4. Tap Manage ad topics. From here, tap:
༚ General: Tap View all next to Inferred by TikTok or Your choices, then select a topic. You can also select a topic below All topics.
༚ Other: Tap the topic you'd like to manage.
5. Select See less if you'd like to see less ads related to that topic, or No preference if you don't have a preference.
From a web browser
1. Click Profile on the sidebar menu.
2. Click the Settings button.
3. Click Ads.
4. Click Manage ad topics. From here, click:
༚ General: Tap View all next to Inferred by TikTok or Your choices, then select a topic. You can also select a topic below All topics.
༚ Other: Tap the topic you'd like to manage.
5. Select See less if you'd like to see less ads related to that topic, or No preference if you don't have a preference.
How to manage gender preferences
You can adjust your gender at any time to help personalize the ads you see on TikTok.
From the TikTok app
1. Tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Ads.
4. Tap Edit personal details, then follow the steps to select your gender.
From a web browser
1. Click Profile on the sidebar menu.
2. Click the Settings button.
3. Click Ads.
4. Tap Edit personal details, then follow the steps to select your gender.
Keep in mind that any changes you make to how your ads are personalized may take up to 48 hours to reflect in your account.
