Who can comment on TikTok
Allowing comments on your posts can help you interact and build connections with the TikTok community.
Choose who can comment on your posts in your settings In your account privacy settings, you can choose who can comment on your posts:
• Everyone (only for public accounts): If you choose Everyone and you have comments turned on, then anyone can comment on your post.
• Followers (only for private accounts): If you choose Followers and you have comments turned on, only people following you on TikTok can comment on your posts.
• Friends (followers you follow back): If you choose Friends and you have comments turned on, then only your followers that you follow back can comment on your posts.
• No one: If you choose No one, then comments will be turned off on all your existing videos at one time in your privacy settings. This means you don't have to go to each of your videos individually to turn off comments.
To choose who can comment on your posts:
1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Privacy, then tap Comments.
4. Tap Allow comments from and choose who you'd like to allow to comment. You can choose Everyone (only for public accounts), Followers (only for private accounts), Friends (Followers you follow back), or No one.
Alternatively, you can also manage the comment settings on your individual post.
Before you post:
You can choose if you want others to comment on this video in the final step before you post a video.
1. In the TikTok app, create your post.
2. On the Post screen, tap the More options ... button.
3. Turn the Allow comments setting on or off.
For an existing post:
1. In the TikTok app, go to the post you'd like to manage. You can find your posts on your profile.
2. Tap the More options ... button.
3. Tap Privacy settings at the bottom. You may need to swipe to find it.
4. Turn the Allow comments setting on or off.
Note: If you're under 18 years old, review the privacy and safety settings for users under age 18 for more details on your comment settings.
How to turn on comment filters for your TikTok posts
Comment filters give you more control over your experience on TikTok. You can apply different types of filters to comments, including filtering out spam, filtering comments with keywords, and filtering out inappropriate or offensive comments (Creator Care Mode). You can always review filtered comments to approve or delete them in your settings.
To filter all comments on your videos:
1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Privacy, then tap Comments.
4. Below Comment filters, turn the Filter all comments setting on or off. If you turn on Filter all comments, comments on your videos will be hidden unless you approve them.
Note: This feature isn't currently available to everyone.
To turn Creator Care Mode on or off:
1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu ☰ button, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Privacy.
4. Tap Comments.
5. Turn Creator Care Mode on or off. If you turn on Creator Care Mode, comments that are inappropriate, offensive, or contain profanity, as well as comments that were previously reported, deleted, or disliked will be hidden unless you approve them.
To filter spam and offensive comments:
1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Privacy, then tap Comments.
4. Below Comment filters, turn the Filter unwanted comments setting on or off. If you turn on Filter unwanted comments, recent comments that may be offensive or spam will be hidden unless you approve them.
To filter comments with keywords:
1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Privacy, then tap Comments.
4. Below Comment filters, tap Filter keywords in comments.
5. Turn Filter specific keywords setting on or off. If you turn it on, tap Add keywords and enter keywords to filter. Comments on your videos that have those keywords will then be hidden unless you approve them.
To review your filtered comments:
1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Privacy, then tap Comments.
4. Tap Review filtered comments.
5. Tap Approve or Delete below the comment you'd like to review.
How to review filtered comments
To review your filtered comments:
1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Privacy.
4. Tap Comments.
5. Tap Review filtered comments.
6. Tap Approve or Delete below the comment you'd like to review. Keep in mind that other users might also choose to delete comments you've posted on their posts.
