What is Footnotes on TikTok?

Footnotes allows eligible members of the TikTok community to provide additional context or information about posts on TikTok. Footnotes are written, reviewed, and rated by approved contributors to help viewers understand the original post. They're added to posts and visible if they receive a large number of helpful ratings and follow our Community Guidelines.

Important things to know:
• Footnotes can only be added to public posts, but remain visible on formerly public posts made private.
• Creators can add footnotes to their own content and rate footnotes on their posts if they are an enrolled contributor.
Footnotes can't be added to advertisements.
• Posts with footnotes still qualify for the Creator Rewards Program.
