Auto Captions


Adding auto captions to your videos


To use auto captions while creating a video:
1. Tap the +, on the bottom of the screen, to create a video.
2. Record or upload a video, then continue to the editing screen.
3. Tap Captions on the right side of the screen.
4. If using auto captions for the first time, turn the feature on by opting in.
5. Your video's speech audio will then automatically be transcribed into text.
6. Once captions are created, each line of text can be played back and edited before tapping Done.
7. When publishing, you can choose to save the video to your device with or without captions.






Text-to-speech


Adding text-to-speech to your videos


To use text-to-speech while creating a video:
1. Tap the +, on the bottom of the screen, to create a video.
2. Record or upload a video, then continue to the editing screen.
3. Tap Text, on the bottom of the screen, then type out the text you would like to add to your video.
4. Tap on the line of text you would like to be read out loud, then select Text-to-speech.






Photosensitivity

Photosensitive epilepsy toggle and warning


The photosensitive epilepsy toggle and warning aims to protect those who may be sensitive to some of TikTok's creative effects. Users can choose to filter out videos that contain TikTok effects that may cause visual sensitivity.

To opt out from For You or Following:
1. Users are shown a warning that says, "This video contains flashes of light that could trigger seizures for people with visual sensitivities. If you skip this video, we'll remove photosensitive videos."
2. Choose Watch video to continue seeing videos with these effects or choose Skip All to opt out.

To manage the feature from Settings and Privacy:
1. Go to Me.
2. Tap ... , located on the top right corner.
3. Go to Accessibility.
4. Turn Remove photosensitive videos on or off.






Animated thumbnails


Managing animated thumbnails


Depending on a user's accessibility needs or visual preferences, video thumbnails can be animated or static.
Turn animated thumbnails on or off:
1. Go to Me.
2. Tap ... , located on the top right corner.
3. Go to Accessibility.
4. Turn Animated thumbnail on or off.
