What is the Nearby feed on TikTok?
Nearby is a personalized feed of local content that features posts related to travel, events, food and drink, and other related services. The Nearby feed is based on your interests and engagement, but it shows you recommended content from TikTok creators who post local content in your region or tag locations or services around your city, state, or province. To ensure you have a variety of content, we may also recommend posts from beyond your city, state, or province.
Note: This feature isn't currently available to everyone. To view or have your content appear in the Nearby feed (where Nearby is available), you must be at least 18 years old and logged in to TikTok.
How your location is determined in the Nearby feed
We determine your approximate location based on your device or network information, such as your SIM card and IP address. In regions where Location Services is available, we'll determine your location using your device's GPS information if the setting is turned on. Your location information is used to recommend more relevant content in the Nearby feed or to determine your location when you're posting content. Learn more about your device's location settings in the Android Help Center or Apple Support.
Note: Location Services may not be available everywhere, including the U.S. and South Korea.
Who can see your posts in the Nearby feed?
Posts in the Nearby feed are shown to others based on location, the topic of the content, and when the content was posted. As a creator, this means your public posts may be available to people located in the city, state, or province where you posted or tagged a location or service. However, your posts won't appear in the Nearby feed if:
• You're under 18 years old.
• You have a private account.
• You change your post privacy settings to Friends or Only you.
• Your content was posted more than 90 days ago.
Keep in mind that if your post relates to local services but you don't tag a location or service, it may still appear in the Nearby feed based on your network, device information, or Location Services setting.
