Animated thumbnails

Depending on your accessibility needs or visual preferences, video thumbnails can be animated or static.

To turn animated thumbnails on or off:
1. In the TikTok app, tap
Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the
Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap
Accessibility.
4. Turn
Animated thumbnail on or off.

Feed navigation buttons

Feed navigation buttons are screenreader aids that add navigation tools to your feed. You can use your device's screenreader features like VoiceOver (iOS) or TalkBack (Android) with these buttons on TikTok to:

•  Pause videos or play videos

•  Go to the next or back to the previous post

•  Refresh your For You, Following, and other feeds

To use feed navigation buttons, you'll first need to turn on VoiceOver (iOS) or TalkBack (Android) in your device settings. Once turned on, these buttons will automatically appear in the TikTok app. If you decide to turn off the buttons within the TikTok app, you'll need to turn them on again through the app settings, even if your device's screenreader features remain on.

To manage the feed navigation buttons:

1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.

2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.

3. Tap Accessibility.

4. Turn Feed navigation buttons on or off. In order to see this setting option, TalkBack (Android) or VoiceOver (iOS) must be turned on in your device settings before going to your accessibility settings.

Keep in mind that if you have Stories visible on your feed, you may need to double-tap the feed to enter fullscreen to display the navigation buttons.

Photosensitivity

The photosensitive epilepsy setting displays a warning that aims to protect those who may be sensitive to some of TikTok's creative effects. You can choose to filter out videos that contain TikTok effects that may cause visual sensitivity.

To opt out from photosensitive videos for your For You or Following feeds:
1. You'll be shown a warning
before you view the video: "This video contains flashes of light that could trigger seizures for people with visual sensitivities. If you skip this video, we'll also remove other photosensitive videos."
2. Choose
Watch video to continue seeing videos with these effects or choose Skip all to opt out.

To change the photosensitive videos setting:
1. In the TikTok app, tap
Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the
Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap
Accessibility.
4. Turn the
Remove photosensitive videos setting on or off.
