On TikTok, you can choose to have a Personal Account, Business Account, or Organization Account. Depending on your audience or goals on TikTok, you may prefer to use one account type over another.

Personal Accounts

Most people on TikTok use Personal Accounts. This type of account is a good choice for general TikTok users, content creators, and most public figures.

Personal Accounts give you the flexibility to experience TikTok in different ways. They're a good choice for people who want to:
•  Watch and interact with other people's content: You can do things like check out videos on your For You feed, use the search tool to find new content to watch, follow other people, and favorite hashtags to watch content you're interested in.
•  Create content for other people to enjoy: With a Personal Account, you also have access to advanced creator tools. These tools help you learn more about the content you create and what your audience enjoys. This can help you build a community as a creator.

How to change your account type

You can change your account type to a Personal Account or Business Account from your settings.

1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Account.
4. Tap Switch to Business Account, then follow the steps to switch your account type.

Note: We advise against switching back and forth from a Business to a Personal Account. If you'd like to promote your business on TikTok but also post organic personal content, we recommend you do these activities on two separate accounts.

Organization Accounts

Organization Accounts are profiles that help brands and organizations manage their online presence, but can be used independently by various team members. They're a good choice for organizations that want to:
•  Manage their account with multiple people: Organizations may need to manage their accounts across several people in a team. With an Organization Account, you can create one or more accounts and maintain them with multiple people at a time.
•  Secure their account assets: The only way to log into an Organization Account is with a verification code, which means your personal login and contact information aren't associated with the account. If people leave the organization, other employees can continue to access the account and its assets.

A few things to know about Organization Accounts:
•  This account type isn't available everywhere.
Other people can tap the label below your Organization Account's username to get more information about your account.
•  You can only create an Organization Account from certain business platforms, such as the TikTok Shop Seller Center.
If you create a new Organization Account, you can apply for a verified badge.
