What are Streaks?
Streaks help you keep track of the people you message the most on TikTok through direct messages or group chats. If you message with someone in a direct message or a group chat for 3 days in a row, a Streak badge displays on the chat. You also have the option to manage a Streak Pet with someone through direct messages. The Streak grows as you or other group chat members continue to exchange messages. The badge fades if messages aren't exchanged before the day ends. If there's no interaction in the chat for 24 hours after it fades, your Streak ends and the badge disappears. However, you may have the option to restore an expired Streak depending on how long you've been messaging for. You'll be notified when you receive a Streak or if your Streak is about to end.
What is a Streak Pet?
A Streak Pet is a virtual character that you can maintain with another person as long as your chat has an active Streak. After you earn a Streak badge, you can send or receive invites to unlock a Streak Pet. Complete various tasks to gain growth points and manage your Streak Pet in your direct messages.
A few things to know about Streak Pets:
• This feature isn't currently available everywhere.
• While you need an active Streak to unlock and maintain a Streak Pet, you don't need a Streak Pet to keep a Streak active.
• If your Streak ends, we'll remove the Streak Pet for both people in the chat and your growth points will return to zero. However, you may have the option to restore your Streak.
• If you or the other person remove the Streak Pet while the Streak is active, we'll remove it for both people in the chat and the growth points will return to zero.
How to manage Streak notifications
You can manage Streak notifications from your settings in the TikTok app.
1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Notifications.
4. From here:
༚ Turn the Streaks setting on or off for push notifications.
༚ Tap In-app notifications, then turn the Streaks setting on or off.
How to restore a Streak
1. Go to the chat that lost the Streak.
2. Tap Restore within the chat, then tap Restore again.
A few things to know about restoring Streaks in direct messages and group chats:
• If you're under 18 years old and join a group chat, your message won't count toward unlocking or restoring the Streak. Learn more about group chats on TikTok.
• You can only restore your Streak within 48 hours after it ends. If you don't see an option to restore your Streak, the time frame for restoring it has passed.
• As you maintain your Streak, you get a limited number of restores at a time.
• If you previously had a Streak Pet, the pet will return to the chat where you restored your Streak.
• After a Streak is restored, it'll return to the same number of days that you lost. For example, if you lose a Streak on day 11 and it's restored, the badge will display 11 days.
How to manage Streak Pet invitations
To invite someone to manage a Streak Pet:
1. In the TikTok app, go to the chat of the person you want to manage a pet with.
2. Tap the Streak badge at the top. Keep in mind that you must have an active Streak to unlock a Streak Pet.
3. Tap the Streak Pet, then tap Invite.
To accept an invite to manage a Streak Pet:
1. In the TikTok app, go to the chat that sent you an invite.
2. Tap Accept.
How to manage your Streak Pet
1. In the TikTok app, go to the chat with a Streak Pet.
2. Tap the Streak badge at the top. You can also tap the Streak Pet within the chat.
3. Tap the More options ... button at the top.
4. From here:
༚ Tap Edit Name, then follow the steps to enter a name for your pet. You can enter up to 20 characters.
༚ Tap Hide from chat. If your Streak Pet is already hidden, tap Show in chat.
༚ Tap Remove, then tap Remove again to confirm. Keep in mind that if you remove your Streak Pet, we'll also remove it for the other person in the chat.
