Resources for teens and families
As teens start to build a presence online, we encourage families to have ongoing conversations about navigating this experience. We aim to create a safe and welcoming community for teens on TikTok and have resources for you to help you and your teen better manage their online presence.
For more information on digital safety, including our safety and privacy tools, visit the Guardian's Guide in our Safety Center.
Age requirement on TikTok
TikTok is available for people at least 13 years old (or other ages as indicated in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service). If you're located in the U.S. and have a child under 13 years old, you can learn more about how they may create an account to access a TikTok experience specifically designed for them.
If you're a parent or legal guardian and you'd like TikTok to delete the account of your child under 13 years old, you can contact us through our online reporting form. However, if you're located in the U.S., you must contact us through this privacy webform.
Parent/guardian-owned accounts
We understand that, as parents or guardians, you may choose to create an account that features your children under 13 years old. To avoid an account being removed, it must show clear adult ownership of the account, including adult involvement in producing the content. If not, we'll suspend the account and if you believe we made a mistake, you may submit an appeal.
Manage your teen's account
As a parent or guardian, you can use Family Pairing on TikTok to customize safety settings for your teen based on individual needs.
Everyone on TikTok, including your teen, can unpublish their account by deactivating or permanently deleting their account.
